Time Management: Mastering Your To-Do and Wish Lists

Many of us feel exhausted and stressed due to workload, time constraints, and mental pressures. While some of us know time and stress management tools in theory, it can be difficult to implement and stick to them for times long enough to show any or sufficient effect. In this workshop we will close the gap between theory and practice and learn how to apply tools and techniques from planning future tasks to executing them in the moment. As a result, we shall feel empowered, more effective, and less stressed.

Together, we will:

  • Cultivate a more positive outlook on time management and to-do lists
  • Explore methods to improve and sustain focus
  • Feel equipped with practical tools to handle tasks more efficiently
  • Enable integration of work on personal/professional passion projects
  • Foster the implementation of habits that can ultimately reduce stress levels

What you will gain from participating:

  • Knowledge regarding different time and stress management tools
  • Ability to implement these tools step by step
  • A better overview of their tasks
  • Greater feeling of self-efficacy

About Miriam Beyers

Miriam has four years of experience in managing multi-national and interdisciplinary EU research projects and holds a dual PhD degree from the University of Copenhagen and Ghent University. Especially, in the past two years she has taken several self- and time-management courses and tried and tested different tools and their combination. Witnessing the positive changes in her life has fuelled her heartfelt desire to share her experiences with others and show them that they can have more control than they currently realise. Applying these tools has among other things allowed her to finish her PhD without stress and start a podcast, in which she gives PhD students and young researchers a voice and where she and other share useful tips on managing academic careers.

Unleash Your Danish Confidence: A Pronunciation Mastery Workshop!

Do you find that Danish pronunciation is particularly challenging?

Then you are not alone! Many internationals struggle with the unique Danish sounds, such as the soft consonants, vowel reduction, and the use of the Danish "stød" (a glottal stop). The melody and intonation of Danish is also distinct from other languages, making it a bit more challenging for internationals to grasp.

Learn from ISM’s language consultant and former language teacher who will demystify Danish pronunciation, breaking it down into simple, actionable steps.

What to expect from the workshop:

Together, we will:

  • Engage in lively, hands-on activities that make learning Danish pronunciation a fun and memorable experience.
  • Practice in real-life situations, building the confidence to converse with native speakers effortlessly.

What you will gain from participating:

  • Master the nuances of Danish pronunciation and unlock the secrets to sounding like a native speaker.
  • Unleash your inner speaker through confidence-building exercises designed to erase hesitation and boost your self-assurance.
  • Gain insights into Danish culture and expressions, enriching your language skills with contextual understanding.
  • Receive personalised feedback to fine-tune your pronunciation and overcome common challenges.

Language level: From beginner to advanced! All language levels of Danish can participate in this workshop. Instructions will be in English.

About Jo Ebert Håkonsson

As a language consultant at ISM, Jo assists international employees and their families when settling in and accommodating to a new life, a new culture, and a new career in Denmark. Prior to working at ISM Jo was a language teacher for 5 years teaching (mainly) Danish to international professionals. Jo is therefore mindful of the linguistic challenges and language barriers that internationals so often face when deciding to learn the local language. As a language teacher, Jo aims to foster a positive, inclusive and dynamic learning environment. Jo holds a degree in anthropology, a Cambridge CELTA from the UK and a master programme in teaching Danish as second language from The University of Copenhagen.
