City walk about Danish Christmas
Dress warmly and boost your Christmas spirit with a cozy city walk through the oldest part of Copenhagen. Along the way, you will hear about Danish Christmas traditions – and learn that some of them are originally not Danish at all.
Hear about the Vikings who 'drank Christmas', but also how the old yuletide celebrations still influence today’s Christmas traditions. And find out why Danes walk around their Christmas tree on Christmas Eve and why they decorate the tree with braided paper Christmas hearts with handles.
Food is, and has always been, an important part of the Danish Christmas celebration, and you will hear about food traditions from the past and present. And of course, why the Danes hide an almond in their ‘risalamande’ (rice pudding).
The Christmas walk ends by one of the Christmas markets where you can treat yourself to a glass of warm glögg or lunch, if you like.
