Workshop 1: “Winter Blues” The science behind

Has the holiday season been particularly over-shadowed by tiredness? Does the couch tempt you more than meeting people especially during the wintertime? Are you craving more sleep and more food? Is it difficult to work? JOIN this online interactive workshop and learn to build your own winter toolbox to fight the blues!

According to Danish health website (sundhed.dk), 5-10 % of the Danish population experiences symptoms of winter depression, also known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). It can start as mild symptoms and result in a full-blown depressive episode affecting mood, and functionality of an individual. However, it is not all bad news, because by identifying the symptoms and being mindful, you can deal with it in a healthy, well-informed manner. In this workshop, we will learn about the science behind winter blues and building our own management toolbox for winter blues.

Topics covered:

  • What is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD)?
  • Difference between SAD and winter blues
  • Facts and figures
  • Symptoms
  • Research focusing on winter depression
  • Brain chemistry involved
  • How to manage the symptoms?
  • Developing a personal toolbox

During the cold, corona-filled winters, staying motivated and productive might feel arduous. It would be my pleasure if I can help you combat this and develop understanding of ‘why’ and ‘how’ of the winter blues. You are welcome to join this event to learn, share, make informed decisions and at the same time, network with like-minded people.
